For those who consider themselves avid fans of the Kapamilya noontime show “It’s Showtime” then you are probably familiar with Eric Tai or better known as “Eruption”. After leaving the show in 2016, the Philippine Volcanoes rugby player revealed in an interview with PUSH what he’s been up for for the past two years.
During the press conference of the prime-time series “Bagani”, where he is now part of, Eruption recounted that after he left the “It’s Showtime” stage he had to make tough decisions on what were the next steps in his life.
According to him, on that same year, he and his wife Rona Samson decided to join “Amazing Race Asia.”
“We came third (place), which is a very big accomplishment sa’min kasi bihira ‘yung mga mag-asawa na mag-reality TV show ng gano’n so we are really proud of that,” he shared.
Moreover, he said that after the reality show, he ventured into managing his own business and accepted series of event hosting.
“Trying to stay in the limelight as much as possible kasi hindi pwedeng mawala sa mainstream. Or if you can, try and get as much exposure as you can,” he said.
Right now, Eruption is a part of “Bagani” where he plays the role as a member of the group collectively called the “Tulisan”. He shared that he feels blessed on being part of the newest Kapamilya series. He said:
“Dahil sa Bagani, I was given a shot as higante lang, ‘yung nilabas two-three weeks ago. And sabi ni Direk Lester (Pimentel), ‘Nagustuhan namin ‘yung action-action mo. Hindi namin alam na meron kang ganyan kasi sa Showtime, puro patawa, sayaw, hataw-hataw, hosting.’”
According to Eric Tai, one thing that he has learned in life is to grab every opportunity that is being given to him.
“Ang isang natutunan na bagay na napakaimportante sa akin is that whenever you’re given a chance to get a role, do the best you can. You work your butt off. You do all that you can to get that and hindi mo alam, baka the next day or next week, tatawagan ka ulit, you got another role for another project.”
“You just never know kung kailan ka matawag ulit for another work… kaya stay ready lang,” he added.
