Another character joins the Kapamilya hit series “Bagani” and she is played by veteran actress Aiko Melendez. On Thursday, April 12, she was finally introduced in the show as Matadora, a pirate chief in the realm of Sansinukob.
It’s safe to say that this new role was a far cry from her character in her previous series “Wildflower” as Emilia Ardiente. During the bloggers conference for “Bagani” last week, the seasoned actress said that she took two days off to prepare herself for the fantaserye.
“Naninibago ako! But you know, I’m really blessed to be working with Direk Richard Arellano and Direk Lester Pimentel. Hindi talaga nila ako tinigilan hanggang hindi ko nawawala yung sosyal role ni Emilia. So ngayon, I can safely say na nawawala na ako doon sa Wildflower.”
But, while she has moved on from being Emilia, Aiko still considers her co-stars in “Wildflower” as family. In fact, she didn’t think twice about giving her reaction to the shocking news of Sunshine Cruz and Wendell Ramos’ network transfer when asked by Push.
Apparently, she knew about Sunshine’s offer from GMA-7, since the two have grown close over the course of “Wildflower”. But when it came to Wendell, the actress said that she had no idea about the actor switching networks to Kapuso, as the two barely talk anymore.
All the same, Aiko feels happy with the fact that her co-stars are about to embark on a new adventure with their careers.
“You know, any growth sa mga kasamahan ko, I’d be the happiest, kasi kami lang naman, especially with Sunshine, she’s a single mom, she just needed to work. So, I’m pretty sure, if after her project with sa kabilang bakod, she’d be happy to be back here in Kapamilya network. Kasi ang Kapamilya, iba rin naman kasing katrabaho.”
