Graduation day isn’t only memorable for the students themselves, but also for their parents who work so hard to provide them an education. Sadly, many hardworking parents miss the opportunity to witness this important milestone in their children’s lives because of work, poverty, or any other conflicting occurrences. Knowing how painful it would be for a parent to be unable to attend their children’s graduation, Raffy Tulfo did not hesitate to help a loving mother whose daughter was about to finish college at the top of her class.
Nanay Dominga Salazar was feeling regret about not being able to see her daughter, Roma, march during her commencement ceremonies. Apparently, Roma was slated to finish her Education degree as Magna Cum Laude at Central Philippine State University.
Nanay Dominga works in Manila as a mail technician while her daughter is in Negros. Unfortunately, Nanay Dominga didn’t have enough money for a plane ticket to the province. She then decided to seek help from Raffy Tulfo.
While inside the studio, the veteran journalist got Roma on the phone and told her that he was going to hand Nanay Dominga PHP 10,000 that she would then send to her. That way, in spite of not being together, Roma could at least celebrate her achievement with her friends. However, the graduating student did not expect that Raffy Tulfo had a surprise for her.
Raffy, apparently, discussed plans with Nanay Dominga and Roma’s school administrators. He covered Nanay Dominga’s travel expenses to Negros, including her hotel accommodation.
During the ceremony, Roma was taken aback when Nanay Dominga went onstage to give her a medal. Raffy Tulfo was also there to laud Roma’s accomplishments.
This inspired the outspoken broadcaster to shower Roma with lots of presents, such as a brand new mobile phone and another PHP 10,000 upon learning that she used the previous amount to pay her remaining school fees.
