Blessings poured for elderly woman who was spotted scavenging amid rainfall

A netizen was on his way to the market when he suddenly spotted an elderly who was scavenging for food during a rainfall.

In a lengthy post, the netizen, who goes by the name Che Positive on Facebook, narrated how he immediately went back to his house to get pancit canton and a can of sardines to give to the poor lola. It turns out that this woman was the same woman he had previously asked to approach him if ever she needed anything.

But instead of begging other people for help, the grandma preferred to provide for herself by scavenging. Obviously, she couldn’t let the bad weather stop her, or else she wouldn’t have anything to eat for a day.

As she and the kind netizen talked by the roadside, the elderly couldn’t help but wallow in self-pity, stating that she’s already having a hard time scavenging.

“Kaya hinihiling ko sa Panginoon kunin na ako. Nahihirapan na ako. … Mabuti nga na [magkasakit] nang mawala na ako sa mundo.”

It must’ve been heartbreaking for Che to hear those words from the lola. So he gave her a bag of rice, then shared her story on Facebook as an appeal for help on behalf of the elderly.

After his post has gone viral, the woman’s son, Kuya Jun, and his wife took the time to see Che to personally thank him for his small act of kindness. The couple also clarified that they also preferred for their nanay to stop working, but she herself was insisting on providing for herself and her two grandchildren.

Moreover, dozens of generous netizens also approached Che to give their prayers and donations, for which the lola is grateful.

“Masayang masaya po ngayon si lola sa mga suporta at panalangin na ipinapa-abot nyo po.”
