LOOK: Isang doktor mula sa UP, sinabing mas “kristyano” pa si Pangulong Duterte kaysa sa ibang lider ng simbahan!

Politicians, celebrities, religious leaders, and even netizens have already expressed their two-cents on President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent remarks about the Catholic Church and its teachings. Most of these reactions were expressing disappointment on his poor choice of words and “unbecoming of a President” type of behavior.

But looks like the tough-talking President gained an ally from a University of the Philippines graduate doctor who took to social media to defend the President that he voted for.

In his Facebook post, cardiologist Doctor Francisco Pascual Tranquilino started his defense by quoting one of Pope Francis statements saying “It is better to be an atheist than a hypocritical Catholic,” followed by another quote from former Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay saying “His (Duterte) frequent foul language that can be annoying to many, I know Rody up close as a person with a big heart and noble vision, who truly respects the dignity in every human being”.

Doctor Tranquilino said that for his part, he did not vote for President Duterte because he believes in God, he voted for the man because he believes he could resolve the country’s problem in his own ways.

“I did not vote for duterte because he believe or did not believe in god. I voted for him because i believe he has a noble vision for the country and a genuine concern for the poor, the needy and the oppressed,” Tranquilino wrote.

“He shows integrity, honesty and sincere intention to rid our country of corruption, drugs and decades of inefficient bureaucracy and stagnation,” he added.

But what netizen loved the most on his statement is when he said the awful truth that the tough-talking, brusqe, and foul-mouthed President that everybody hates embodies the Christian life more than those who preach about it.

“He is more christian than most of us who continue to bash him for his unbridled comments against catholic teachings which were taken out of context,” he said.
