Jennica Garcia-Uytingco tried to drink Placenta shake!

Anyone cares for a Placenta shake? yes, Placenta, those things that you could see during birth.

Some celebrity made a good use of it.

Days after giving birth to her second baby, Jennica Garcia-Uytingco shared that she tried drinking her daughter’s own placenta blended with a fruit smoothie.

On Instagram, she posted a photo of her second child with her placenta and said they were on “their third day together” on Wednesday.

In the caption she shared the experience of drinking a small piece of her daughter’s placenta with a smoothie, she also thanked her friend Irina, a childbirth doula for it.

“In the next photo, thanks to @irina_doula, you will see a lovingly prepared fruit smoothie. Blended with it, is a small piece of my daughter’s own placenta.”

She said her husband Alwyn Uytingco has been supportive of her decision and even drank two sips from the smoothie before giving it to her.

“To my surprise, my husband, drank two sips from my smoothie before handing it over to me! Kaya siguro mahal na mahal ko ang asawa ko. Alam kong naiintindihan at suportado niya ako, gaano man ka-iba ang nais kong tahakin na landas.”

She said most moms are worried there might be a foul taste or smell from the placenta, Jennica, on the other hand, said she had a “sweet time” drinking hers and even kept more pieces to make more.

“While most would probably take the smoothie in one go, being worried that there might actually be a foul taste or smell from the placenta, I took a sweet time drinking mine and enjoyed every moment of it. We even kept a few more pieces in the freezer to be able to make more for later. Cheers! ”

According to the website Mother & Baby, the placenta nourishes the baby during pregnancy so by the end of the nine months, it’s packed with vitamins, including vitamin B6 that help fight depression.

Sciencemag.org meanwhile reported that eating placenta pills “made no difference to the women’s hormones” nor made “significant overall impact on fatigue and postpartum depression.”

This is also the same findings the medical website Webmd.com,
“People who support eating the placenta say that it can raise your energy and breast milk quantity. They also say it can level off your hormones, lowering your chances of postpartum depression and insomnia.”
